How it all began
Several years ago, I wrote a paper for my master's degree about how we act in everyday life (based on the writings of sociologist Erving Goffman). My supervisor encouraged me to get it published but I wasn't sure, so I sat on the idea for a long time...
Instead of publishing it in some obscure journal, I turned it into friendly relatable content so more people could benefit from it. Because everyone'sinvolved in the theater of life, with or without a college education. It's an exciting journey and I'm glad you're here with me...

βββAfter studying dramaturgy (the concept of life as theater) in classrooms and observing it in personal and professional settings for 10 years, I've learned that the best way to apply these insights is to go back and forth between the frontstage and backstage without losing perspective. For me, that means keeping a journal and revisiting the events of the day. For you, it might be something else entirely.
β"Going backstage" isn't about finding the truth. It's about paying closer attention to the rules of roleplay.
βThe goal is to take that information back into your everyday life to make mindful decisions, both for yourself and what you believe to be the good of society. Whether that's preparing for a job interview or standing up to an asshole. Whatever it is, I wish you luck!

Dear reader, I created this space to pull back the curtain on everyday life. But it wouldn't be possible without pulling back the curtain on my own act as a writer. This special edition gives you a behind-the-scenes look at all of it. I know it's hard to believe a thing anyone says on the Internet these days. Social media has a way of turning us all into liars and narcissists, constantly vying for attention. But for some of us, sharing online feels genuinely unnerving. If you've been off of...
